The Interventions of Edward Forrest
Along the eastern seaboard of the United States, there lie cities older than the country itself; fully established and aging away at its birth as a nation. Near the turn of the third millennia by Christ, cults worshipping Older Things were peaking in certain activities, for the stars are ever-changing. Though it appears to be a faulty chronological plan based around the supposed death of a single man, it is in fact a well planned and meticulously charted document for the possible paths of major star systems; all thought into creation in the hopes that these Older Things could once again claim dominion over all living beings.
Though none of our great race would admit it, something had to be done; if only to insure the prosperity-and survival-of all. Thus I go against untold laws to do as much as possible in the time before the next great eon begins.
The Beginning
A college campus; among the eldest in the nation but outwardly changing with the passing ages. The parking lot of a major fine arts and history building; cold creeping through as another unnaturally chill night was emerging. In the dim electric sunrise the six converged: an aging historian, exiting the building with a stoic psychologist, respect and friendship between them; from a simple sedan enter an excitable archaeologist visiting from across the globe and a budding anthropologist whose mind holds more information than shes willing to divulge, professional acquaintances tied by their mutual love of history; and finally a government-issued, small-scale transport reveal a battle hardened soldier and a young special-operations agent that may have been released without proper ethics training; these two bound only by occupation.
